Why is over 60% of the English language derived from Latin and Greek?  ... and close to 90% in the fields of medicine, law, theology, and the sciences?  English is not a Romance Language, so where do we get all this Latin?  How did Old English - basically a Germanic language - evolve into Modern English, such a complex language with so many words derived from the Classic languages?
